Tangguh Gas for Domestic Use, says BPMigas

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:Upstream Oil and Gas Upstream Regulator (BPMigas) head R. Priyono says LNG gas from the Tangguh Block will be prioritized for the local petrochemicals industry in Papua. The 3.8-million ton capacity refinery is expected to be built in 2015 and be completed by 2018.

“The rest can be distributed to the Asia-Pacific market,” he said last weekend. Although it can be exported, Priyono called for an industrial relocation clause from import countries as part of the bargain with foreign buyers.

Oil and Gas director-general Evita Legowo said this had not been officially discussed with the government. “We want to build the petrochemicals industry first,” she said. (NUR ROCHMI
